Back in May of this year, my brother saw something on Kickstarter that he knew I would just-have-to-have: a portable camera lucida for the 21st Century. Of course , I kicked in my $30.00 and if I'm not mistaken, they were sold out by the end of the day. After eight months, my NeoLucida found its way to me from China.
I persuaded my art doll to model for me.
After some fiddling around, I arranged a left-handed set-up, wore a ball cap backwards to keep my bangs out of the way and made these four drawings, progressing from right to left. It's a little tricky but when viewed correctly, it's like magic and, if magicians were to confess: it takes practice.
