August Has Passed

Project Life 365 has proved to be my creativity mentor for 2013. The daily prompts inspire me to take pictures and to appreciate the view points of people from all over the globe. During the month of August, these four were my most "liked" submissions.

Flight.

Flight.

Just minutes before landing in KOA on a flight home from LAX, I raised my window shade to find this sight. I knew that it would be dark in Kona at 7:30 p.m. yet here we were, not less than a half hour away, the sun was setting and the moon was ready to take center stage. I love my iPhone and I so appreciate being upgraded to first class without even asking.

The first day of every month, Project Life 365 prompts you to post a photo titled "You Today". It's always a challenge for me to be self-deemed presentable in the morning but this shot of me doing my yoga stretches, was my second most-liked Instagram picture for August. Notice how deftly I manage to hide my face? This is also how the photos appear when posted to Instagram (for my non-IG friends).

Refreshing.

Refreshing.

Some days, the prompts fail to inspire me. I make a few meager attempts with my camera and search for an encouraging quote. I might say "Meh" to the picture, yet get a lot of approval. On this hot and sunny day, an ice cube felt like the most refreshing solution. After I shot this, I recalled the instructions I slowly offered at the end of many yoga classes: "Imagine that you're an ice cube resting out in the hot sun. As you look up at the clouds rolling by, allow your body to relax and melt into the earth...release your form...relax."

Just Like a Movie.

Just Like a Movie.

I love the light that streams through my kitchen and living room every morning.  One day I caught sight of my shadow as I was about to eat some oatmeal and thought of the scene from Psycho. I could not resist using it for the August 30 prompt, "Just Like a Movie". Apparently, it's a well known visual meme.
