He Keeps Showing Up

Pablo Picasso keeps appearing before me. When I found myself on a layover in Madrid two years ago, I had the urge to visit the Museo del Prado to see their Goya collection but for some reason, it was closed that day. Our guide suggested that I go to the Sofia instead and I soon found my way in front of Guernica.  I've never been a Picasso fan and although I was familiar with the history of Guernica, I wasn't prepared for the size and impact of the painting. I was stunned.

Because of that chance encounter, if he were alive today, I'd friend and follow him. Often, I come across Picasso's quotes and find them perfect inspiration for my Instagram photos.

Who sees the human face correctly: the photographer, the mirror, or the painter?
— Pablo Picasso

Oddly, his words and his eyes attract me more than his paintings. I've taken the picture of him that I used in my photograph and am in the process of adding it to a page in my art journal.

I don't know where this will lead and for now, I'm just paying attention to what shows up and what I feel like doing about it. Curiouser and curiouser.

I do not seek. I find.
