This is part of an experiment I'm doing. At the start of each week, I make a list of things to do that have no prior commitments or appointments tied to them. They're usually items that get pushed aside because they seem self-indulgent or trite. I've discovered, finally, that I am much more generous with my time and energy to others, if I take care of my own wants and wishes on a regular basis.
1. Get some replacement flowers for the kitchen counter. These lasted a couple of weeks but now the leaves stand alone.
2. See about fixing the a/c and a few other items in my car. Who am I depriving by putting it off any longer? Answer.
3. Get a new chair for my writing desk. I set this space up in my bedroom a few weeks ago but the chair is too hard for me to sit comfortably for more than two minutes. I've enjoyed looking at it though.
4. Make an Artist Date with myself. Ideas abound.
I have hopes of being kinder to myself this week. We'll see the results on Friday.
